oooh. The English Patient got the booker Prize. That is enough for me. (okay this is a stupid post but I'm leaving it)

I feel the same way about Coetzee's Disgrace. Brilliant! (Sorry, I've seen way too many Guinness commercials.)

ha ha. can i send your post to the guardian and all the british authorities you mention above? just to let them know they are not alone...

I loved ian McEwan's Atonement (which I am 99% won the Booker one year...2000? Oh hell, I am a lazy cretin).

the nice thing about the Booker is that, having previously been pen only to Commonwealth writers, it awarded literature that wasn't American. It's not that we Yanks have cornered the market on contemporary fiction by any stretch of the imagination (Margaret Atwood, Chinua Achebe, Coetzee, Mcewan, to name a few), but it's good to have a different "world-tone" present and recognized.

I am babbling.

TPB, Esq.

I've heard Atonement is good. I need to check that out. Yeah, the Booker has recognized writers that Americans have been slow to recognize (Achebe especially). That is a good thing.

How may you join my site? Or how may you win the Man Booker Prize?
