Ernie the Attorney has a great little advice piece on digital cameras, organizational software, and Photoshop Elements. I know I need to get Elements; I've been somewhat remiss in not getting it, given what I want to do with pictures. I'm not sure I need to go digital, though, with regard to my camera.
I am still waiting for the affordable digital SLR. Canon's Digital Rebel is still way, way, way too expensive, and I'm not sure the Nikon is any better. In the end, I find that it's only the gadgetry of digital cameras that woo me. I like them as toys. Fortunately, every time I do seriously consider dumping $500 on a toy, Wormold, my photographer friend, pulls me aside with a friendly "what the f*** is wrong with you, lawyerboy?" Wormold's good to have around, even though he has a bizarre hatred of Will Shortz.

Hey, I like Will Shortz. We're all just jealous of him because he has the world's coolest job, and gets paid stupid cash. I heard he actually has a law degree - his parents made him go to law school so he'd have something to "fall back on."

I have Photoshop Elements and it's fantastic. For my level of digital photography the price differential between it and the full Photoshop program made it a no brainer.
P.S. Any thoughts on Boston College going to the ACC? I think they're making a mistake.

Yeah, Will Shortz went to UVA Law. Smart guy (obviously). Wormold hates him because he violates what Wormold considers are the "rules" of crossword puzzles (Wormold, a polyglot who speaks English, French, German, Spanish, some Italian, some Latin, some Basque, some Portuguese, Dutch, and some Russian, is big on rules for language). I.e., recently, Shortz did a puzzle where the clue required one to write either "heads" or "tails" in one box. Not one letter, but one word. I agreed with Wormold on that one. I think that's a bit much.
Hondo, I'm probably going to get Elements myself. I just need to get the copy that has the rebates. I dislike spending $100 for a CD-Rom that cost about $0.27 to make.
As for BC in the ACC, I'm actually happy about it. Playing schools like Rutgers and Temple in football is a joke (although Rutgers did fight hard this year). Since Va Tech and Miami are leaving the Big East, that would mean that only Pitt would be a tough opponent. Frankly, one tough game is not worth it to me.
I like the idea of going to a big conference, where we'll get our asses kicked in football for the first few years, at least until we can recruit better players, and where we can do very well in basketball (a sport I hate, but has profitability/fame/recruitment concerns that I appreciate).
My real concern, though, is with the BCS. When are we going to get rid of the BCS and have a conference or NCAA championship? We need a December or January version of March Madness for football.
